Innocent Driver Killed, Suspect Shot After Police Pursuit

INKSTER, Mich. (DRCN)— A tragic scene unfolded Friday afternoon when an innocent life was lost during a chaotic police pursuit in Inkster, sparked by Michigan State Police attempting to serve a search warrant.

Around 2:45 p.m., as troopers moved in on a home, a man bolted out, hopped into an SUV with a woman, and sped off. The chase turned deadly when he blew through a red light, colliding with another vehicle.

The driver of that vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene, their identity kept under wraps while authorities notified the family.

Meanwhile, the suspect, just 19, ditched the SUV and ran, but not before shots rang out, leaving him wounded. He was stabilized at the hospital, but the chaos left a trail of destruction, with two guns found on him, raising questions about whether he fired back.

This kid's already tangled in a web of homicide and drug investigations, now detectives are left to sift through the wreckage, while the community grapples with the fallout of reckless choices.
