“We Will Not Tolerate Gun Violence,” says Prosecutor Peter Lucido

MOUNT CLEMENS, MI – A 17-year-old from New Baltimore is now confronting a series of serious felony charges following a shooting incident that occurred in broad daylight at a local business earlier this week. Julian Deante Green was arraigned on Thursday and is being prosecuted as an adult, a decision that Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido emphasizes as a strong statement against violent crime in the community. Lucido's remarks highlight the determination of local authorities to address and deter such behavior, underscoring the message that acts of violence will not be tolerated in the area.

On April 22, 2026, an incident occurred on Gratiot Avenue involving an individual named Green, who is accused of entering a local business and discharging a firearm three times in the direction of a 19-year-old male. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries resulting from this act; however, the business itself suffered damage to its property. The circumstances surrounding the event raise questions about the motivations behind such reckless behavior and the potential implications for community safety.

Legal Proceedings & Charges

On April 30, 2026, Green appeared before Magistrate Ryan Zemke at the 41B District Court for his arraignment. During this proceeding, it was established that his bond includes a "no 10%" provision, which stipulates that the entire bond amount must be paid in full for his release. This requirement indicates that there is no option for a reduced payment, which is often available in other cases, thereby placing a significant financial burden on Green if he wishes to secure his freedom prior to trial. The implications of this bond structure suggest a serious approach by the court, reflecting the nature of the charges against him and the potential risks associated with his release.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office authorized 11 felony charges against Green, including:

  • Two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder (a life felony)

  • Two counts of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm

  • Seven weapons-related charges, including discharge of a firearm in a building and carrying a concealed weapon

  • Malicious destruction of personal property

Next Steps

Next up is a probable cause conference, where the court begins sorting out whether this case moves forward—and it likely will. The matter is set to be heard before Judge Sebastian Lucido, and from here, things tend to move with purpose. When you’re dealing with multiple felony counts—especially ones involving alleged gun violence—the system doesn’t drag its feet.

And this is where reality sets in.

Being charged as an adult in Michigan isn’t just a technicality—it’s a completely different world. Different rules. Higher stakes. Real prison exposure. This isn’t juvenile court, where the focus leans toward rehabilitation and second chances. Adult court is about accountability, consequences, and public safety.

So when people hear “17 years old,” they might think this plays out one way. It doesn’t. Not here. Not under these circumstances.

Cases like this are a reminder that once the line into serious violent crime is crossed, the system responds accordingly—and it responds fast.
